National Youth Work Week

EDM number 1139 in 1999-00, proposed by Stephen Twigg on 09/11/2000.

That this House celebrates National Youth Work Week running from 30th October to 5th November; congratulates the National Youth Agency and its partners for selecting young people and democracy as the theme for the week, illustrating why democracy is important to young people and young people are important to democracy; recognises that all around the country youth work organisations will be celebrating the role played by young people in their areas, or in campaigning groups, or participating in running their own organisations; acknowledges that youth work, with its informal education approach, is well-placed to encourage and support young people who want to participate in changing their communities; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to recognise the vital contribution that youth work can make in helping young people to develop as individuals and as members of groups and communities.

This motion has been signed by a total of 44 MPs.
