Cornish Pasty And Protected Geographical Indication Status

EDM number 1113 in 1999-00, proposed by Andrew George on 01/11/2000.

That this House believes that the humble Cornish pasty is the product of a unique tradition of working men and women in Cornwall, that it is vital to the local economy, generating an estimated turnover of ú150 million, provides thousands of jobs, is an essential part of the Cornish character in the food market and that any pasty described as 'Cornish' in the European Market should actually me made in Cornwall; and therefore support its case for Protected Geographical Indication status.

This motion has been signed by a total of 19 MPs.
