Cyprus (No. 3)

EDM number 1109 in 1999-00, proposed by John D Taylor on 01/11/2000.

That this House notes with approval the statement made by the UN Secretary-General, Kofi Annan, on 12th September 2000 that each party in the Cyprus dispute represents its own side and no one else, and that the two peoples of Cyprus are the political equals of each other; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to cease dealing with the government elected in Southern Cyprus by the Greek Cypriots as if it were the government of the whole island, and to accord equal treatment in all respects to the government elected in Northern Cyprus by the Turkish Cypriots.
