Pigeons In Trafalgar Square

EDM number 1098 in 1999-00, proposed by Tony Banks on 30/10/2000.

That this House reminds the Mayor of London that pigeons in Trafalgar Square are part of the London scene enjoyed by citizens and visitors alike; further reminds him that the Square's feral pigeons are intelligent and sociable creatures who have become accustomed to a food source provided by human beings and to cut off the supply abruptly would be cruel and lacking in compassion; and calls upon the Mayor to consult the relevant animal welfare organisations on acceptable methods of pigeon control and in the meantime to desist from campaigns that vilify the gentle London pigeon.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
