Rogue Traders

That this House congratulates the honourable Member for Luton South for presenting a Ten Minute Rule Bill to crack down on rogue traders; acknowledges that thousands of people are victims of unfair trading practices such as oppressive selling tactics, unjustifiably high prices and shoddy workmanship; welcomes the Public Accounts Committee's excellent report, 'The Office of Fair Trading: protecting the consumer from unfair trading practices', highlighting the failure of the current legislation; congratulates bodies such as the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux and the National Consumer Council on their campaign to reform the law; and urges the Government either to support the Rogue Traders Bill or include a Consumer Bill in the next Queen's Speech.
