Flooding In Lewes
EDM number 1071 in 1999-00, proposed by Norman Baker on 23/10/2000.
That this House extends its deep sympathy to the people of Lewes in the wake of the recent severe flooding to hit the town; notes that 400 homes had to be evacuated and that many businesses and farmers have been severely hit; expresses its profound thanks to, and admiration for, the superb work done by the emergency services, Lewes District Council, the RNLI, the Red Cross and others; and calls on the Government to treat sympathetically requests for assistance to help put Lewes back on its feet.
