"the Patriot"

EDM number 1059 in 1999-00, proposed by Martyn Jones on 27/07/2000.

That this House considers that the film The Patriot, directed by German director Roland Emmerich and written by Robert Rodat, is an appalling travesty of historical truth, that its apparent authenticity hides a dangerous agenda which portrays the British forces as performing atrocities about which there are no historical records and which were in fact perpetrated by the SS in World War II, and that this has the effect of appearing to give a precedent for Nazi war crimes; notes that if any other nationality or ethnic group were subject to such lies they would be quite justified in suing the film makers; and calls upon the British public to boycott this dreadful film.

This motion has been signed by a total of 10 MPs.
