Portcullis House

EDM number 1048 in 1999-00, proposed by Norman Baker on 27/07/2000.

That this House notes that despite original estimates of ú165 million, the cost to the taxpayer of building and equipping Portcullis House is now likely to exceed ú235 million, equivalent to a cost of more than one million pounds per honourable Member based there; further notes that the building's bronze cladding alone has cost ú30 million and the hiring of 12 fig trees for five years has cost ú150,000; and calls on the National Audit Office to carry out a full investigation into this expenditure.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
