Section 28 Of The Local Government Act 1988
EDM number 966 in 1998-99, proposed by Maria Fyfe on 01/11/1999.
That this House congratulates the Scottish Executive on its proposals to repeal section 28 of the Local Government Act 1988; notes that section 28 has been the cause of a great deal of discrimination against homosexuals and has been especially harmful to youngsters who have been bullied and denied appropriate support at a critical time in their development; and in welcoming this progressive and radical step, asks Her Majesty's Government to bring forward similar measures in England and Wales at the earliest possible opportunity.
This motion has been signed by a total of 58 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
