Regulation Of Body Piercing Of Minors
EDM number 953 in 1998-99, proposed by David Chidgey on 27/10/1999.
That this House notes the great concern caused, particularly among parents, by children as young as 12 years old undergoing cosmetic body piercing, without effective regulations or the need for consent by a parent or guardian and that surveys among GPs show that a requirement for medical treatment following body piercing is widespread; further notes that the Government recognises that primary legislation should be introduced (12th May, Official Report, column 288); and calls upon the Government to include such legislation in the Queen's Speech.
