The Death Of Jack Lynch
EDM number 937 in 1998-99, proposed by Harry Barnes on 25/10/1999.
That this House sends it condolences to the Irish people and to the family of the former Taoiseach, Jack Lynch, who recently passed away; agrees with Jack Lynch's longstanding political adversary, Liam Cosgrave, that Jack Lynch was the most popular politician since Daniel O'Connell; believes that Jack Lynch achieved much in both preventing the destabilisation of the Republic of Ireland in the wake of the outbreak of the Troubles in the late 1960s and in building wider and deeper relations between his country and the United Kingdom; and urges increased attention by the media, Parliament and public opinion to political and cultural events in Ireland with which we share so much history and whose peoples are so strongly connected.
This motion has been signed by a total of 7 MPs.
