Detoxification Centres

That this House wishes to see the early implementation of the recommendations of the Audit Commission and the Police Complaints Authority to set up a network of detoxification centres for drunks detained by the police; notes that it costs, on average, Ãº200 in police time to manage a drunk and disorderly member of the public; and urges the Government to introduce detoxification centres as soon and widely as possible.
