Mv Greenpeace

EDM number 849 in 1998-99, proposed by Norman Baker on 20/07/1999.

That this House notes with concern that the Government has acted to ban the MV 'Greenpeace' from United Kingdom waters; regards this move as an undemocratic and draconian reaction to legitimate action by a pressure group; and believes that the Government would be better stopping the shipments from the United Kingdom of weapons-usable nuclear materials rather than harmless vessels attempting to monitor them and that shipments of plutonium constitute a far greater safety risk than any action by a group committed to non-violence.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
