Ban On The Mv Greenpeace From UK Waters
EDM number 848 in 1998-99, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 20/07/1999.
That this House is concerned at the actions of the Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions in banning the MV 'Greenpeace' from all United Kingdom waters in the Irish Sea, St George's Channel, the Bristol Channel and English Channel; notes that the MV 'Greenpeace' had embarked upon a peaceful protest against the shipment of MOX fuel to Japan on board the BNFL Ship, 'Pacific Pintail'; believes that this is a totally unwarranted action that outlaws legitimate peaceful protest against these dangerous plutonium shipments; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to lift the ban on the MV 'Greenpeace' forthwith.
