Water Fluoridation

EDM number 838 in 1998-99, proposed by David Crausby on 15/07/1999.

That this House welcomes the Secretary of State for Health's proposals to conduct an independent review of the safety and benefit of fluoridation; believes that water companies should only fluoridate where there is local support for doing so; congratulates Bolton Council for being the only town in Britain to hold a referendum on fluoridation with a turnout of 82 per cent. with 73 per cent. against fluoridation; and calls upon the Government to encourage local authorities to take a lead from Bolton and consult with the public before they decide to fluoridate the water supply.

This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
