Price Waterhouse Coopers And Lloyds Tsb Bank

EDM number 802 in 1998-99, proposed by Gerry Steinberg on 08/07/1999.

That this House is appalled that Price Waterhouse Coopers, acting as receivers, and Lloyds TSB Bank, who profess to be a caring bank, despite being offered ú1.3 million, the asking price for Tursdale Engineering, Bowburn, Durham, have rejected the offer in favour of breaking up the firm for ú20,000 less, resulting in the loss of 120 skilled engineering jobs; calls on Price Waterhouse Coopers and Lloyds TSB Bank to explain why they took this incompetent decision; and notes that this typifies the attitude of banks to the communities in which they trade.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
