Abdullah Ocalan

That this House condemns the recent conviction and sentence of death on Abdullah Ocalan; supports the view of Amnesty International that his trial violated both Turkish national law and international standards for fair trials; believes that the international community should broker peace talks between the Turkish Government and the Kurdish people in which Abdullah Ocalan should play a part; and calls upon the Turkish Government to fulfil its obligations as a member of the Council of Europe and party to the European Convention on Human Rights.
