Age Diversity In Employment: Code Of Practice
EDM number 72 in 1998-99, proposed by Linda Perham on 02/12/1998.
That this House welcomes the publication of the Government's consultation on a code of practice for age diversity in employment to show how businesses and employers can take steps to ensure they choose, retain and develop the best person for the job by eliminating the use of age as an employment criterion; and calls upon the Government to do its utmost to publicise the Code, make it widely available and monitor closely its effectiveness with a view to promoting good practice and fostering a culture of challenging and defeating ageist attitudes in employment wherever they occur.
