Contacts Between Greek And Turkish Cypriots Living In Cyprus

EDM number 665 in 1998-99, proposed by Tom Cox on 19/05/1999.

That this House notes with deep regret that there is virtually no contact taking place within Cyprus between Turkish and Greek Cypriots and believes that such contacts at all levels are essential for developing confidence and agreement on the future development of Cyprus; and calls therefore on Her Majesty's Government to use its contacts with the Turkish Govt to impress upon them the need to use their influence and contacts with Mr Denktash, the leader of the Turkish Cypriot community, to encourage him to allow these contacts between Cypriot communities to take place in Cyprus.
