SUTTON'S GRANT MAINTAINED SCHOOLS;Amdt. line 1:
EDM number 655A1 in 1998-99, proposed by Paul Burstow on 26/07/1999.
leave out from 'notes' to end and add 'that in common with all local authorities the London Borough of Sutton has implemented the Government's Fair Funding regime for all maintained and former grant-maintained secondary schools; that implementation followed extensive consultation with all secondary Heads and Governing Bodies; is concerned that the Secretary of State's decisions in respect of transitional funding for former GM schools has proved inadequate, resulting in the schools having to appeal to parents for voluntary financial contributions to make up the shortfall needed to maintain standards; welcomes the establishment of a new Sutton Secondary Schools Partnership and the setting up of a review group to examine the way in which the fair funding formula is working in practice and recommend changes to the LEA; and believes that only a united front by the LEA and all the secondary schools on funding issues will address the underlying cause of Sutton's difficulties; calls on the Government to consider Sutton's case for fair funding for all its schools.'
This is a ammendment to 655.
