Mature Street Trees

That this House recognises the importance of mature street trees in filtering air pollution, reducing the risk of flooding, and increasing biodiversity; notes that street trees are under threat from open-cut trenching by utility companies; welcomes the development of computer assisted trenchless technology by Midlands Electricity; and calls upon the Government to develop a national strategy for the preservation of mature street trees by encouraging utility companies to adopt trenchless technology and introducing trenching guidelines enforceable by law.
