Body Piercing Of Children
EDM number 569 in 1998-99, proposed by Bob Russell on 21/04/1999.
That this House, noting that tattooing below the age of 18 years is not allowed, expresses concern that there is no lower age limit for body piercing of children; believes that other than for the wearing of ear-rings, the piercing of various part of the anatomy to allow rings or studs to be fitted is contrary to accepted standards of child protection; and calls on the Government to introduce legislation for body piercing similar to that which applies to tattooing.
This motion has been signed by a total of 30 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
