That this House congratulates the Government on its continued attempts to improve the provision of cancer treatments on the National Health Service, welcomes the extra ú40 million allocated since the last election to speed up access to diagnosis and treatment in breast, colorectal and lung cancer services; supports the changes contained within the Health Bill which will enable all suspected cancer cases access to specialist treatment within two weeks; welcomes the new health improvement programmes which will require health authorities to draw up plans for the delivery of high quality cancer treatments; and further welcomes the new National Institute for Clinical Excellence which will develop a new framework for national standards to end the existing inequalities in cancer care.
