Hertfordshire And Pfi Bids
EDM number 510 in 1998-99, proposed by Oliver Heald on 30/03/1999.
That this House notes with concern that the Government has changed the criteria for allocation of PFI credits to restrict highway authorities to one major project bid per authority; further notes that this takes no account of the large population, high car ownership and heavy road uses in Hertfordshire in comparison to some other authorities; further notes that Hertfordshire has made a bid for PFI credits for the much-needed Baldock By-Pass, a scheme to relieve the town of very damaging congestion and environmental damage, but also wishes to make a bid for PFI credits for the Central Hertfordshire Passenger Transit System; and calls on the Government to recognise the exceptional needs of Hertfordshire and to allocate PFI credits for both of these key transport schemes.
