Sale Of Lindane
EDM number 457 in 1998-99, proposed by Alice Mahon on 19/03/1999.
That this House calls upon Her Majesty's Government to ban the sale of Lindane, a powerful insecticide used in farming; notes that a leaked confidential European Union report lists a number of harmful effects of Lindane, including that it is a carcinogenic substance, can cause hormone disruption, behavioural changes, nervous system damage, immune system damages and birth defects; believes that there is growing evidence linking Lindane exposure to increases in the incidence of breast cancer; and congratulates Unison and the Women's Environmental Network for their campaign to get this harmful pesticide banned.
