Future Of The London Freedom Pass

EDM number 430 in 1998-99, proposed by Paul Burstow on 15/03/1999.

That this House congratulates the London boroughs for negotiating improvements to the London concessionary travel scheme for elderly and disabled people; welcomes the addition of access to rail services and a 9 a.m. rather than 9.30 a.m. start to the scheme; notes that the opposition of just one borough council is sufficient to trigger the imposition of the 1984 reserve scheme which costs more and loses the additional benefits; regrets that HM Government has refused to take the legislative opportunity of the Greater London Authority Bill to protect the benefits of the current scheme; and calls on the Government to provide for the reserve scheme to become the current year's scheme, index-linked and rolled over into the following year.

This motion has been signed by a total of 20 MPs.
