Cyprus
EDM number 426 in 1998-99, proposed by John D Taylor on 15/03/1999.
That this House, concerned that progress toward a settlement is being blocked by Greek Cypriot insistence on the fiction that they are the government of all Cyprus, and by their excessive build-up of armaments, calls upon Her Majesty's Government to treat the two peoples of Cyprus and their leaders equally; calls upon the Greek Cypriots to accept the confederation proposal put to them by the Turkish Cypriots; and calls upon the EU to suspend all negotiations on the accession of Cyprus until a joint application is made by the Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots acting together.
This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs, 2 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
