Westminster City Council And Dinner At Landmark Hotel
EDM number 351 in 1998-99, proposed by John McDonnell on 23/02/1999.
That this House expresses its amazement that Conservative-controlled Westminster City Council is spending ú20,000 on a civic dinner at the Landmark Hotel on 4th March at a time when it is cutting school budgets and increasing council house rents; is further outraged that the invitation list includes the former Conservative honourable Member for Westminster North, Sir John Wheeler, but not his successor, the Labour honourable Member for Regents Park and Kensington North; is simply staggered that an invitation has been sent to Dame Shirley Porter, who has been found guilty of gerrymandering and is currently under surcharge of ú26 million but not to Labour former councillors, the honourable Members for The Wrekin and Hendon, who were prominent in the campaign to bring her to justice; and calls on Conservative honourable Members to join with those of other parties in condemning the misdemeanours of Tory Westminster.
