Financial Services Authority And Ice Cream Advertisements

EDM number 296 in 1998-99, proposed by Bob Russell on 09/02/1999.

That this House deplores the series of advertisements produced by the Financial Services Authority which show a member of the public buying a single ice cream at an inflated price, being short-changed, and then experiencing difficulty in getting the correct change; believes that such advertising is offensive, is detrimental to the retail ice cream business as a whole, and in particular is damaging to individual businesses; and calls on the Financial Services Authority to withdraw such negative and hostile publicity and to apologise to the ice cream industry.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
