Women In Pakistan
EDM number 238 in 1998-99, proposed by Alice Mahon on 25/01/1999.
That this House deplores the position of many women in Pakistan who are subjected to unjust laws, forced marriages, violence and so called 'honour killings'; calls upon the Government of Pakistan to abolish the Zina Law which cruelly discriminates against women and to uphold international convention on women, children and human rights; and congratulates the BBC for its excellent programme, Correspondent, which graphically highlighted the plight of many women and children in Pakistan.
