London Fire Service
EDM number 230 in 1998-99, proposed by John Cryer on 21/01/1999.
That this House notes with alarm the proposal by London's Chief Fire Officer to cut five fire engines; calls on the London Fire and Civil Defence Authority to vote against the proposed cuts; further notes that the LFCDA possesses ú5 million in reserves and will see a considerable underspend this year; and calls on the Government to re-examine the funding of the Fire Service while taking into account the increasing numbers of retired firefighters and the consequent pressure upon LFCDA funds.
