Ministerial Travel
EDM number 205 in 1998-99, proposed by Gerald Howarth on 19/01/1999.
That this House notes the Prime Minister's instruction to honourable Members that 'you are not here to enjoy the trappings of power but to do a job and uphold the highest standards in public life'; also notes the recent allegations that Ministers have made excessive use of private jet aircraft, helicopters and Concorde and that they have spent unreasonably on their private office accommodation; further notes that the Minister responsible for Government travel and property is the Right honourable Member for Copeland; and urges the Prime Minister to ensure that his Ministers obey his instruction.
This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
