Greenwich Talking Newspaper Association

EDM number 127 in 1998-99, proposed by John Austin on 15/12/1998.

That this House congratulates the Greenwich Talking Newspaper on the production of its 1000th edition; notes that the Greenwich Talking Newspaper Association which was founded in 1977 is a registered charity, supported by voluntary contributions and fund-raising and makes no charge to the recipients of its service; notes also that the production of the tapes, which are posted weekly relies upon a dedicated group of volunteers; recognises that the association provides a valuable service to visually impaired residents in the Borough of Greenwich keeping them informed on local issues and events; hopes that the service may continue to expand and serve the community for many years to come; and hopes that similar services can be developed in other parts of the country.
