ADDENBROOKE'S HOSPITAL, CAMBRIDGE

EDM number 120 in 1998-99, proposed by Andrew Lansley on 15/12/1998.

That this House notes the continuing concern over access to, and parking at, Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge; welcomes the efforts made jointly by Addenbrooke's NHS Trust, Cambridgeshire County Council and Cambridge City Council to maximise the use of public transport and pedestrian or cycle routes to the hospital; supports the better use of existing parking provision and an increase in parking provision to ensure ready access to vital facilities; calls on Cambridgeshire County Council to bring forward options for improving road access and bus routes to Addenbrooke's and to expedite park and ride proposals from the M11/A/A1309 access road to Cambridge and a dedicated bus routes to Addenbrooke's utilising a redundant rail route; urges Cambridge City Council to increase the S106 planning limit on parking places at the hospital; and calls on the Secretary of State for Environment, Transport and Regions to recognise these requirements in the forthcoming Cambridge Package component of the TPP and specifically to approve the major TPP bid by Cambridgeshire County Council for construction of a railway halt at Long Road in Cambridge.
