Future Housing Need

EDM number 843 in 1997-98, proposed by Tom Brake on 26/02/1998.

That this House calls on the Government to introduce a moratorium on major developments until its revised planning policy is in place, adopt a target of 75 per cent. new households to be built on recycled land, give local authorities greater powers to specify the design, quality, type and mix of properties in any new housing developments, indicate how the Government will meet social housing needs, introduce a greenfield development tax to integrate transport and land use planning and investigate policies that will reduce demand for housing in the future.

This motion has been signed by a total of 37 MPs.
