Formation Of The All-Party Local Government Councillors Parliamentary Group

That this House congratulates the National Association of Councillors for its work since 1959, in enhancing the standing and role of elected members in local government, in promoting education and training opportunities as well as providing a forum for elected members to discuss issues of common interest and to exchange information and ideas, for the benefit of those involved in local government and those who use and depend upon the services it provides; welcomes with pleasure the establishment of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Local Government Councillors; and notes its objective to encourage understanding of local and national government issues by elected local and national representatives in all parts of the United Kingdom for the benefit of the communities they serve.
