Scottish Concessionary Travel Scheme For The Blind And Allied Companion Card Scheme
EDM number 811 in 1997-98, proposed by John McAllion on 18/02/1998.
That this House notes that there are 32 separate travel concession schemes currently in operation throughout Scotland; further notes that blind people travel free in all but two; regrets that the schemes are not co-ordinated and inter-changeable; accepts that the 30,000 registered blind people in Scotland are disadvantaged by the restrictions and confusions of 32 different schemes; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to establish an integrated and comprehensive scheme of concessionary travel and allied companion card scheme for blind and visually-impaired people within Scotland.
