The Angel Of The North

That this House congratulates Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council, artist Anthony Gormley and the craftesmen of Hartlepool Erections on the completion and successful erection of the Angel of the North, compliments the council's Labour group whose policy of promoting art in public places has led to this largest and most impressive example; and invites the Liberal Democrat opposition on Gateshead Council to include in their next local election manifesto their threat to have the sculpture dismantled and reduced to scrap.
