JACK RUSSELL'S FIFTIETH TEST MATCH
EDM number 750 in 1997-98, proposed by Nigel Jones on 05/02/1998.
That this House congratulates the Gloucestershire wicket keeper Jack Russell on playing his 50th Test Match for England against the West Indies in Trinidad; recalls his world record of 12 dismissals in a test match against South Africa; notes that the Australian wicket keeper Ian Healy has played 100 test matches for his country; believes both players have been doughty fighters for their respective teams as batsmen and wicket-keepers, have thrilled cricket lovers around the world with their remarkable talent and dedication to the summer game, and have been splendid examples to younger players; and wishes them both many more dismissals at the highest level.
