That this House remembers with affection and respect the life of Dr Robert McIntyre, the first SNP MP elected to the House of Commons in 1945; recalls his principled stances on Scottish sovereignty and in the sphere of public health with particular emphasis on the causes and eradication of chest diseases leading to his appointment as Honorary Chest Physician at Stirling Royal Infirmary; recognises his tireless work on the Council and as Provost of the Royal Burgh of Stirling, including the establishment of Stirling University; regrets the passing of this man of principle; and records its condolences to his wife Lila, his family and friends.
