Pedlars

EDM number 715 in 1997-98, proposed by Peter Brand on 02/02/1998.

That this House notes with concern that a report on the review of the Pedlars Act 1871 for which consultation letters were sent out on 1st July 1994 is yet to be published; calls on the Government to publish the report and to bring the law governing pedlars into line with that governing street traders who are covered by the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1982 in order that locally licensed street traders are not forced unfairly into competition with sharp operators peddling with a licence from the police which may have been issued many miles away.

This motion has been signed by a total of 11 MPs.
