Protection Of Children At Work;amdt. Line 2:

EDM number 712A1 in 1997-98, proposed by Audrey Wise on 11/02/1998.

Leave out from 'employment' to end and add 'notes that even if hours of employment are limited to 12 per week in term time a 13 year old could be working a total of more than 50 hours per week made up of a typical school week of 32.5 hours plus say six hours' homework plus 12 hours employment; further notes that this exceeds the 48 hours work limit deemed suitable for adults; also notes that at 15 years' old, homework increases to about 15 hours increasing the working hours of an employed child to 60; further notes that employed children are a source of cheap labour even if employed legally; and supports the call of the Stop Child Labour Campaign that Britain should ratify ILO Convention 138.'.

This is a ammendment to 712.
