Compensation For Quarrymen With Emphysema
EDM number 711 in 1997-98, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 29/01/1998.
That this House, in welcoming the historic court case that acknowledged the entitlement to compensation of coalminers suffering from lung diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis, calls upon the Government, in drawing up a compensation scheme, to make it sufficiently broad-based so as to compensate slate quarrymen, slate miners and others, together with the widows of such workers, who have also suffered from similar ill health by way of emphysema and chronic bronchitis, and to make clear forthwith that this is their intention.
