Cosla And Single Parent Benefits

EDM number 702 in 1997-98, proposed by Andrew Welsh on 27/01/1998.

That this House welcomes the passing of a motion by the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities which called on the Government to abandon plans to reduce single parent benefits; expresses concern at the potentially damaging effects of the Benefits Integrity Project that will inevitably lead to greater social exclusion; and deprecates any attempt to control the PSBR by marginalising the most vulnerable members of society.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
