Royal Mail Liverpool

EDM number 663 in 1997-98, proposed by Louise Ellman on 19/01/1998.

That this House, noting that the last claimant count for Liverpool showed 9.4 per cent. unemployment overall, with male unemployment at 13.7 per cent. one of the highest rates of unemployment in the country, calls on Royal Mail to reverse its decision to re-locate around 800 jobs from Liverpool to Warrington, given the findings of the recent report by PA Consultants that it would be more cost-effective for Royal Mail to build a new Mail Centre at Speke, Liverpool, than at Warrington.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
