Childcare Facilities In The Houses Of Parliament
EDM number 654 in 1997-98, proposed by Tom Brake on 16/01/1998.
That this House notes that a total of over 3,500 people work at the Houses of Parliament and that many, including a number of the younger new intake of honourable Members will have small children; further notes that the provision of childcare facilities at the House of Commons is under consideration by the Administration Committee of the House and that a survey on childcare needs is being circulated; calls on the Government to respond positively and quickly to the childcare needs of staff and honourable Members identified in this survey and to investigate immediately the possibility of providing, as a short-term measure, nursery places in other nurseries in the vicinity.
