Electricity Supply Breakdowns

EDM number 632 in 1997-98, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 12/01/1998.

That this House, while paying tribute to the electricity supply workers who endeavoured to maintain or re-establish electricity links in the fierce storms over Christmas, regrets that because of inadequate staffing levels and investment in upgrading distribution networks, many houses and farms were without electricity for several days and as many as eight days in parts of Northern Wales; and calls on the electricity companies to increase their investment in improving distribution networks and to employ adequate numbers of maintenance staff.

This motion has been signed by a total of 24 MPs.
