Conduct Of The Honourable Member For Worcester

EDM number 570 in 1997-98, proposed by Peter Luff on 09/12/1997.

That this House is accustomed to those who seek to ban fox hunting making their claims on the basis of distortion, selective quotation and misrepresentation, but is particularly disappointed that the honourable Member for Worcester, during his speech on the second reading of the Wild Mammals (Hunting with Dogs) Bill, sought to represent a chase by the Wocestershire Hunt of a fox lasting 80 to 90 miles as a representative and recent occurrence, when the chase in question, described in the history of the Worcestershire Hunt as being extraordinary 'if authentic', took place in December 1780; and requests that the honourable Member apologise to the House and the Worcestershire Hunt for the impression he created, and that he rely on more recent evidence for the defence of his bill during its further progress through this House.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
