Proposed Film Portrayals Of The West And Moors Murders
EDM number 520 in 1997-98, proposed by Tess Kingham on 27/11/1997.
That this House recognises the distress and trauma of those affected by the West murders and the murders by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, not only the victims' families but also the people of Gloucester and Saddleworth; deplores the intention of the Portman Entertainment Group and film producer Mike Blewitt and director David Blair to make films dramatising the events of these horrific acts; believes that murders like this are not suitable subjects for public entertainment as they will cause much distress to the people of Gloucester and Saddleworth and to the victims' families; and calls upon the Government to intervene to halt these companies profiting from this misery.
