Disability Benefits
EDM number 491 in 1997-98, proposed by Audrey Wise on 24/11/1997.
That this House recognises that the benefits to which various categories of disabled or chronically sick people are entitled are a necessary and justified expenditure in an advanced civilised society, and should not be taxed, withdrawn, transferred to local authorities or subjected to further limitation or cuts; and calls for full recognition of the need for secure benefits to meet the very high costs of disability, as well as the need for opportunities for employment when appropriate.
This motion has been signed by a total of 72 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
